Is there anyone I could talk to who used to be a Christian but isn’t anymore? I’ve had a faith for a few years now but the doubts and questions are louder than ever and I might be leaving the faith. Would love to hear experiences

Just know if you are questioning it doesn’t mean you have to leave. I am a Christian but I do not go to church because of the way the people are. I still believe but I also do it the way I feel I need to not how others try to push it on me. I read the bible when I need and I pray when I need but I don’t let others ruin it for me

if you're questioning leave. christianity is patriarchal brainwashing and will not help you grow as a person

My grandma wanted me to be a Christian but I never got the calling. You could check out your closest unitarian universalist church, the demographics at the one I go to are mostly non-denominational/deconstructing/former Christian, Jewish, and Pagan.

Hey there! I completely understand how doubt can creep in, even after years of faith. I've gone through similar struggles and felt lost for five years. But now in college, I see how God’s goodness shines through in my life. It's okay to question; faith is about trusting a God who has a perfect plan for us, even when we can’t see it. As Jeremiah 29:11 says, 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'

I was raised evangelical Christian but I grew away from most aspects of the faith. I don’t go to church weekly or participate in traditional activities but I still believe in living the way Jesus lived and walking in kindness wherever you go.

hey op! i was raised christian & had my fair share of doubts & questions as well. this led to me exploring other faiths (or potentially a lack of faith) & ultimately coming to the conclusion that islam was what i had been missing. it answered all my questions & just made everything make sense. & everything ive discovered abt it since then just confirms my decision. if u feel like islam is calling to u or ur just interested in talking more pls reach out, id love to discuss! :)

I could talk you, however I could give the flip if you’d like. I was an atheist for a while and became a christian in recent years.

personally (as a person who grew up in a catholic school and is the daughter of a methodist pastor), i’ve just more distanced myself from organized religion. my parents don’t love the fact that i don’t actively go to church, but to me a relationship with christ is more important than the stupid rules christianity tries to enforce. you can still love Jesus, but you don’t HAVE to identify as a christian if you don’t want. OR you CAN still identify as christian, without all the extra nonsense.

As someone who constantly questions my faith, I say this. God exists, that is fact. Jesus exists, that is fact. How you choose to respond to that is up to you. But if God designed everything to a minute detail, that reasons that God is perfect. And if God is perfect, what reason have we to abandon a perfect being who proclaims and teaches the true way of life is to love (to be willing to sacrifice oneself for another)? It is your response to God. Choose what you will.

Philippians 4:6-7: 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.' He offers peace that goes beyond our understanding. As you delight in Him, trust that He’s working all things for your good. You're not alone, and it’s definitely worth it to continue this journey of faith!

One thing that helped me hold on to faith is when I almost lost mine is Eucharistic miracles and the fact the bible has some translations that may have slightly alters the meanings of certain texts however the core principles remain the same

no, i'm just someone who recognizes that spirituality should be a personal journey that doesn't rely on set rules and judgements to reach moral goodness. christianity forces people into a box, a hierarchy, a following mindset. spirituality should help a person grow and not make them feel small. spirituality shouldn't be something you do because others tell you what's right. finding your values and your way in this confusing world should be something you do without pressure to conform to ideals

I actually advise just following Jesus and what he says if you can’t get behind the Bible cuz he’s the gospel incarnate. His parables and teachings will help you I feel. The church rn IS very empirical and that’s not what Jesus stood for so I attest my faith to him and him alone
