Any tips or tricks for newbie runners? I’m looking to start my running journey, but I’m not entirely sure I know what I’m doing πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Start with run-walks; the walking portion will be your rest and get your HR back down to where you can run again. I recommend 3-2’s or 4-1’s

Get a watch with heart rate first. Walk consistently. Don’t run yet. Once you feel comfortable walking for days or weeks, starting running VERY slowly. Run to a point where you can talk to someone comfortably while doing it. Call someone when running. If you can’t speak. Slow down.

SLOW. Walk, run, stop. Do whatever you need. The first couple weeks should be ENJOYABLE (as much as you can be). If you try to run 3mi without a base you probably won’t want to do it again. Start with an attainable goal. Ex. 20min MOVING (walking and running if needed)

make sure you wear proper shoes! i recommend going to a running store (ex. road runners) to get properly fitted for a running shoe that works best for your feet.
