
The issue is that any movement with the goals of “immigrate to this region to establish a state for this ethnicity” will necessarily marginalize the people not of that ethnicity already living there, either through outright displacement or through political marginalization. It could have not been as violent, but it would still have harmed Arabs. Some early Zionists like Ze’ev Jabotinsky saw anti-colonial revolt from Arabs as inevitable, comparing it to the Sioux and Aztecs.
