
One of the wildest things to me is that no one knows George Orwell was a democratic socialist. I guess America has perverted his work so much to make it seem anti-socialist, when really it’s antiauthoritarian. Like animal farm doesn’t want you rooting for the farmer, which would be the position if it was pro-capitalist.
The pigs represent the Soviet revolutionaries. They accumulate power and become corrupt despite the initially noble ideas of the revolution. Napoleon is very clearly Stalin, purging animals who he deems a threat to his rule. Snowball is clearly Trotsky, a noble idealist who wants to liberate nearby farms and is driven off by Napoleon for threatening his power.
