
Lots will blame “communism” for this – when it was really authoritarianism. Mao Zedong didn’t personally like sparrows, so he had ‘em all killed. But without sparrows, pests explode & crops die. IMO, the lesson is that one guy shouldn’t be in charge of everything – you want farmers in charge of agriculture, the same way you want teachers in charge of education, doctors in charge of healthcare. No matter how big your leader’s brain, they can’t possibly know everything. Let experts be experts.
