This is fantastic but realistically couldn’t it be more? I believe I read it was 1$ from her ticket sales on her tours and weren’t they like impossible to get into since she blew up? If it was 2$ per one $200 ticket already doubles it. And given vip tickets can be literally thousands logically it makes more sense for a % of each ticket to be donated. So 10% dono on a 200 ticket would be 20 donated while 10% on a 2,000$ ticket would be 200 donated
In this scenario with Sabrina, it’s not tax deductible. The charity contributions have to be from her own income in order to be eligible to write it off. In this case the money is coming from others and redistributed among charities but not from her income nor is she equaling the amount raised so therefore it’s not eligible to be tax deductible.
It usually is donated from the corp’s income. For example, for Walmart’s children’s miracle network, that money was already donated by walmart, and customers pay the corporation back. It’s listed in the terms of sale/terms and conditions. That’s why they have “store goals”. To pay back the money they paid the charity. Also it’s so they can guarantee they can maximize the deduction.
Yeah that’s what I specified i love that she’s doing it period. It’s great that she’s doing it but it’s never just out of the goodness of her heart. It’s multi-purpose/multiple motivations. Pr/public perception move, tax write off, etc. but you are right that as far as we know, she could be doing much more and it is none of our business. Like Taylor Swift giving $100K bonuses to her production team on the eras tour. We would’ve never known if it wasn’t for reporters.
it is driving me crazy that you both are citing the google ai at each other. girl that is as reliable as any random five year old giving their interpretation of the google results. that is not a source it is a word prediction algorithm optimized to look as convincing as possible yall are killing me
lol ik it’s right (im an accounting major) i just needed a screenshot to show proof bc it’s never enough for people like you. And generative ai isn’t always right. It’s called hallucinogenic generative output (HGOs). But ai (outside of generative) in general is really reliable. That’s why Google came out with citations (those chain links). And who are you to say I’m too lazy to check?! Who’s to say I didn’t double check?!
Systems are SET UP to keep the rich rich and the poor poor. A listers are 100% going to be rich because huge movies and albums and tours is where all the money is. Poor fans uphold that as well by buying merch and tickets. They are set up to stay that way. So unless you’re gonna do something about it, can’t we just shut up and be happy when a rich person DOES give money to charity?
Sad to say, one “figure” from one “study” doesn’t prove anything. I would like to see where you got this from though because comparing the market of live animals which needs to consume water to survive, would obviously use up more water than a TV or AI. Same when you compare a leaky pipe to AI lmao
Ok, guys (both of you). You’re asking the ai the wrong questions and arguing about nothing. Fans’ donations are not deductible or “a tax write off” (to her) because it never belonged to her. That means it’s not included in her income. That DOES means she doesn’t pay taxes on it. NOT because it artificially reduces the portion of her income that’s taxable (that’s what a deduction is), but because it just doesn’t increase her actual income. The same way Bob doesn’t pay income taxes on it when Sue
donates money: just no reason he would. Carpenter CAN get a deduction if she donates her OWN money (meaning her taxable income is lower than her actual income by the amount of the donation). But that still doesn’t profit her because the tax she saved is only a fraction of the amount she donated (the fraction that would have been taxed on that amount). & treating donations as income and then deducting them when you donate it forward is incorrect, but the math would come out about the same.
I’m gonna tear out my hair omfg. CAN YOU GUYS BE HAPPY WHEN GOOD THINGS HAPPEN FOE ONCE. CAN YOU BE HAPPY WHEN PEOPLE DO GOOD THINGS INSTEAD OF SCRUTINIZING EVERY PART OF IT SO YOU CAN WRITE A HATE COMMENT INSTEAD. Like Jesus Christ, legit how do you live in this constant state of pessimism
unfortunately we do live in a system where ppl have an excess of wealth while others have nothing. but one rich girl can’t topple that whole system and neither should it be her responsibility entirely. she contributed to causes she believes in and that’s good on her. those causes are better off bc she contributed.
There’s literally no good enough reason they could give. That would be like turning down $100 million from Elon just because it seems like he was pushed to give the money. What smart person would turn that down? Only idiots would be stuck up enough to only want “in good faith” money.
Some people act like they would rather see a bus full of hungry children starve, than to allow a rich person to give the kids money for meals and housing just because they didn’t want to. It’d still save the kids. God forbid some rich person brute about having to give out some money they would’ve gone and spent on clothes(made in third world countries) or cars anyway.
If the public donated to the plus1 charity directly, carpenter doesn’t get to write off the public’s donations. If she set up a website where she donated money out of pocket, she would get to write it off. I looked into it, and plus1 is a not for profit organization that “partners” with celebs in order to market their charities. So, she cannot deduct this 1m dollars. She can however deduct any cost for her time/ money spend marketing for this charity. - an accountant
Unless the contributions were taken out of the ticket sales, technically that’s her income, in that case I’d say it’s deductible. Which it looks like plus1 likes to do it that way. I mean if I was her accountant I would make sure it was set up in a way to where she DOES get to take a deduction because that’s best for her financially
As someone whose parents earn a living off those platforms, those stats are incredibly misleading. She has a net worth of $12mil. Which is huge, nearly 12x the average US household. But still, raising 8% of your net worth for a cause is a HUGE contribution that almost nobody makes.
