It’s incubation phase is longer though so it’s hard to just avoid interacting with sick people since it’s hard to tell if someone is infected until they show symptoms, but by then they couldve already spread it

It’s actually been a frequent throughout history that diseases and viruses worsen and spread rapidly to different locations due to boats. Some key examples would be the Bubonic Plague, Spanish Flu, Smallpox and COVID. Transmitting disease was relatively common back in the day due to unsanitary conditions, but even today disease can still spread from prolonged exposure and cramped areas, just like what #35 said.
