ya ok. is it democratic to shoot charlie kirk when he was not violent and was only peaceful having a conversation about his opinion? like honestly the democrats should look in the mirror because they are the exact opposite of democracy. so yes, it is wonderful that the democratic party is going away. and the republican party has true democracy
There needs to be 60 votes to pass the budget bill and there’s only 53 republicans in the senate, the republicans wanted to pass the bill to keep the budget the same as last year but the democrats WOULD NOT sign off on it because they wanted a shit ton more money for the budget (which would’ve put us more in debt) because the democrats wouldn’t sign off on it the government shut down because there was no money left in the budget
If you’re referencing the ceasefire that has not actually “created peace”. Palestine is still under Israeli occupation and Khan Younis was bombed shortly after the ceasefire. Yes, there was progress made in the sense that Israeli hostages were returned but the Middle East is far from fully at peace
It doesn’t matter if he controls the republicans in the senate without the help of the democrats nothing gets through, are you slow, the bill the republicans wanted to pass was just to keep the budget this year the same as last year how tf does that hurt the American people, the democrats not passing the bill is hurting Americans because it’s shutting down the government meaning some people aren’t getting paid
Funny. Because we are not. If you want to believe everything you see on the internet that’s fine, but look up democracy and you’ll see that the United States is set up on our constitutional standards. We elect our government officials which makes us a constitutional republic actually (my apologies) and not a democracy. As a democracy is ruled by the majority, which we are not.
first off, he sent ILLEGAL immigrants back to where they are citizens of because they snuck in and invaded our country, our space, killing our people(like what happened to laken riley), it’s just like how someone breaks into someone else’s home, exact same thing. and since when did trump ever rape a child? genuinely, is there any evidence of that? cited reliable sources?
Yes this is true. The U.S. is indeed a constitutional republic. We’re also a representative democracy. The people (by popular voting) vote for who represents them at the state, local, and to an extent at the national level. Those are democratic processes and shows we do indeed have democracy. We’re not a democracy in the government system because it’s incredibly flawed. A democracy or a direct democracy would lead to us voting nearly everyday.
if there’s no evidence of trump raping a child, it most likely never happened. also dude i don’t know how we’re supposed to know, i don’t make the laws, BUT what i do know is that ICE’s purpose is to find that out and clear out the illegals, and if you’re a legal citizen here, then no worries go about your day. if you’re not a legal citizen you’re going back to where you are a citizen of. literally simple as that. illegal immigrants are sneaking in and taking our spots in schools, jobs, etc.
nobody should ever have to die like that, not the innocent people in Gaza, not Charlie Kirk, not anybody (unless someone actually physically raped/SA’ed/molested someone else or murdered them for no reason, then yeah death penalty), but i’m just saying people are comparing deaths like it’s competition and blaming the wrong people
The reason it would hurt people is because there is an automatic change to spending set to occur at the end of the year; with the current bill, ACA subsidies expire in December. That means that it’s litteraly the exact opposite of what your saying; while republicans are indeed trying to pass a CR, that CR would gaurentee the elimination of the subsidies, while democrats are trying to extend them in order to keep the same
You know America “kills its own people” too right? We still have executions? The people Hamas just executed were members of a gang being directly funded by Israel to work in tandem with the IDF to attack Hamas; I’m personally against the death penalty in all cases, so I don’t really support it, but it’s hard to be pearl clutching about then executing active combatants
Actually he is pretty consistently sending people to countries they *are not* from, including El Salvador and South Sudan. The example of Laken Riley doesn’t change the fact, proven over and over in *so* many studies, that immigrants legal or illigal commit less crime than citizens do
And yes, in 2016 multiple anonymous girls, particularly one Katie Johnson (pseudonym) filed a suit alleging some pretty dark stuff that I can link, before they received so many death and bomb threats that the case was abandoned out of fear for their own safety, and was burried/ignored by most media. That combined with his ties to epstien, the birthday letter, and plenty more, paint a pretty clear picture. https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.cacd.646485.1.0.pdf Go to page 3
You realize when people say "we are losing democracy" they mean "we are losing the peoples ability to affect the government over private interests, oligarchs, and entrenched powers". This is equivalent to saying “the Soviet Union wasn’t actually communism” like technically it’s right, but it almost always completely misses the point being made
Dude, you are missing the point. When people say we are losing “democracy”, they mean the idea of a government run by the people and not oligarchs or entrenched interests. Not to mention you are wrong anyway; a republic is a form of democracy. But even if it wasn’t, this technicality is completely unrelated and unimportant to the point most people are trying to make
Pretty sure most of the people who voted for him didn’t have this in mind and are probably convinced it’s all fake news. I’d definitely say this is ignorance rather than intent. Of course there are a large amount of bad eggs in the carton but I definitely wouldn’t call it all out support. Ik a lot of republicans shaking their heads rn
It's just art bro it's not supposed to do anything besides get people talking. One person doing this as their activism doesn't shit on someone else doing something more physical or lasting or whatever. If anything it could inspire people in DC to stand up a little more when they see other people aren't just gonna take it on the cheek. It may not be a huge dent but it's part of the larger message of resisting ts
“Abuse of the system has always existed” and “the system is currently borderline non-functional due to the sheer magnitude of abuse it is dealing with” are not mutually exclusive. Both lobbying and our modern degree of gerrymandering are both creations of the 21st century after the Supreme Court explicitly made them illegal
You recognize there is a difference between one person being bought and the whole government being bought right? The modern problem is scale; it’s the entire government at this point, rather than individuals abusing the system. Also, I really don’t understand why “democracy has always been broken” works as a response to “our democracy is breaking”; the end result is the same, and we should be pushing for better either way
There are absolutely ways to create more robust corruption protections that can catch people acting immorally, regardless of their personal penchant for taking bribes. And again, the problem we have now is scale; a few politicians being bought by the rich is *much* preferable to the entire government; pretending like those are the same is just giving in to nihilism
Because the government was just more effective. I suppose technically it’s impossible to know, but the important metric isn’t just the behind the scenes numbers that we don’t know, it’s the output. You can always assume every government every is corrupt, and so nothing ever matters and give into nihilism, but that ignores that many systems are running functionally better than the one we are under now, meaning that real change for the better absolutely can be made
