Hantavirus is not joke 30-50% fatality rate in the west *with* treatment. COVID was 1-10% (depending on strain and vaccine availability) and it still killed MILLIONS worldwide, and just for perspective, the Black Death was 60-70% and wiped out 1/3 of Europe. They need to go to an isolated island and only interact with specialists from the WHO.

U should research this disease cuz clearly u haven’t. The disease rarely spreads from person to person, it is mainly spread by contact with infected rodent waste, so the threat of them docking isn’t ANYWHERE near as high as Covid or any flu virus. Secondly, sacrifice the few to potentially save the many is fucking morbid. Try ur best to save everyone always

upvote 54 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #12 23h

Well based off that, if only infected rodents can give it to humans that means there are rodents on the boat? It’s infected 3 people leading them to die either they had this disease or received it while on the boat, then apparently 4 others have been affected so I can see where it may sound like it can be transmitted human to human then considering viruses mutate….We don’t have enough info yet obviously, even the news headlines are not helping with over exaggeration of instant death 😭

The high mortality rate leading to less spread bc people are too sick to move is just speculation. Truth it if that wad the case then the black death wouldn’t have done shit, but instead it wiped out half of europe. Why? Because people don’t give a shit and will go around anyways. Or it spreads to their caregivers who then can spread it more before they enter the death stage. Proper PPE can still fail and people can also do the thing called disobeying quarantine bc they don’t care.

The black plague still exists u fucking idiot. It’s just not a problem in modern civilization because we don’t live in literal shit and piss. You can’t keep people on a ship that is having a virus spread through rodent excrement (meaning most likely a contaminated food source) to quarantine because the virus is already present, there is no quarantine and if you force people to stay on said boat and consume food from the on board pantry’s then anyone who does become infected and dies is on your hands, because you forced them to stay on a boat with limited food and known possible contamination in the food available.
