its genuinely devastating how normalized violent homophobia is becoming again. i posted about this on reddit and got about 10 comments angrily denying that it was a hate crime or denying that it even happened at all. someone even claimed the story was fabricated entirely??? what is going ON? i’m consumed by grief for two men i don’t even know. this is the legacy that a culture of bigotry creates. nothing but pain. genuine evil.
His husband says it was homophobia, but interviews with people in the neighborhood indicate there were serious mental health issues going on in the house (lots of police calls to the address in the last year) and neighbors seem to doubt that this is a purely homophobic crime. It’s worth waiting for more facts to come in before people jump to any particular conclusion just yet.
Yeah I mean people so full of hate and murderous tendencies to the point they’d actually impose psychological terror on someone and kill deserves both physical and psychological terror back don’t they? An eye for an eye. Karma comes back for everyone. If you torment two innocent men, kill their dog, and then murder one of them, you deserve nothing but the worst. I wouldn’t necessarily encourage prison rape but I certainly wouldn’t pity the man.
He deserves more than just time in prison. It’s not like it’s a little kid who discriminated against someone bc their parents told them to. It’s a grown ass person killing someone with the intention to kill them. That’s not a sane person. That’s an evil person. It’s disappointing we don’t have a vigilante like Hercules to take care of these men
People who are truly Christian dont. A lot of people that claim to be Christian judge as if they are in a position of God, and honestly, a lot of people who don’t follow the religion do the same thing. Jesus Christ helped the broken and weary and tried to spread his love throughout the land. Even though this dude’s killer could claim to be a Christian, it doesn’t embody the true point of the religion, which is to love and care like Christ. Jesus would have loved and cared for him. RIP, God bless
Then there’s not a ton of Christians. I’m kinda tired of everytime Christian’s do something horrible it just gets excused as “they’re not real Christians”. No, by definition they are Christian. You don’t get to just throw them out because it’s convenient for you. I like how whenever a Muslim or an atheist does something horrible Christians are condemn the religion (or lack thereof) as the reason but when Christians literally quote scripture while doing something horrible then it “doesn’t count”
it might be a controversial statement but… i’m a lesbian who hates gun violence. i also believe that every gay and trans person in the US should be armed. i used to think i would never own a gun, and that the number of guns in this makes everyone less safe. and it’s true, they do make us less safe… but we as a community are by NO means safer for being unarmed. the police won’t defend us when we’re alive, the courts won’t back us when we’re dead. we can only rely on ourselves and each other.
And yet the party that Christians vote for, wants this shit to happen. I’m tired of hearing about how “those aren’t real Christians”. And just acting like Christians can’t do horrific things. If you want me to buy all that love and compassion stuff then maybe Christians should start showing it instead of just saying it
