Yes. It as that uncommon. Most kidnapping are of children and mostly of random, normal people. This is highly unusual that the elderly mother of a talk show host is kidnapped and held for ransom and the perpetrator is just no where to be found ? This has never happened before.

Well this is what always happens. Remember the gabby petito case? It created an uproar over how much media coverage her case was getting compared to hundreds of other women of color who are also missing in the same areas as they found multiple bodies while looking for gabby. When there’s influence and money there’s always gonna be more media coverage
