63
Anonymous27w
Someone tell CPG grey
54
Anonymous27w
I remember someone telling me at my job this summer that they were gonna stop making pennies
39
Anonymous27w
and of course the gov is gonna auction them off instead of keeping them safe as the soon-to-be-valuable-artifact that they are (also assuming this sticks even after trump’s term is over.)
30
Anonymous27w
I will say, it did cost more to make them then they are actually worth so cutting them would probably happen sooner or later
27
Anonymous27w
Rip pressed pennies. Gonna miss the crank machines
26
Anonymous27w
Why does it say 2005?
23
Anonymous27w
End of an era
10
Anonymous27w

1
🏴☠️
Anonymous27w
Honestly saddens me.
1
Anonymous27w
Gone but not forgotten
1
Anonymous27w
The penny cost 1.5% more to make it. It’s the most useless coin and alot of retail will just round up to the nearest 5 cents. There was never a shortage (I worked in banking during the time) and honestly no one cares.
1
Anonymous27w
That last penny gonna be worth so much
1
Anonymous27w
six or seven sents
1
Anonymous27w
why am i sad
1
Anonymous27w

I just shed a white tear down my leg
1
Anonymous27w
I hate this.
1
Anonymous27w
Why am I kind of sad
1
Anonymous27w
Yeah but it makes sense it cost more to make them that it’s actual value
1
Anonymous27w
we finally gonna have shit stop being X.99 $ now? i say this but know they’re prob just gonna start using .95 now
1
Anonymous27w
Oy vey!!
1
🐬
Anonymous27w
Wow
1
Anonymous27w
I swear some of these comments think Pennie’s just evaporated. They’re still in circulation they just aren’t making them anymore😭
1
Anonymous27w
Wonder what copper been doing
1
Anonymous27w
Last penny but it was made in 2005

Anonymous27w
K and, when was the last time anyone at all cared about Pennies? Least useful coin ever invented
-12
Anonymous27w
That’s why he said somehow
192
Anonymous27w
You are correct I did this
298
Anonymous#927w
Or wait what if your change is like 3 cents or 32 cents when the pennies actually phase out?
128
Anonymous#127w
😂😂😂😂 so underrated & overly true !
833
Anonymous#327w
LMFAOOO wait no dis is underrated 😭😭😭😭😭
133
Anonymous#1727w
Lucky Pennie’s will never go extinct.
37
Anonymous#1427w
Ball knower
4
Anonymous#927w
surprise, they’re just gonna start rounding up.
266
Anonymous#2127w
Curious how that’d look on a receipt
37
Anonymous#2127w
I guess even taxes and stuff would all have to end in 5 or 0 and extra money for them?
49
Anonymous#427w
I mean he’s still on the 5 dollar tho so it’s not that bad
172
Anonymous#927w
It only really matters for cash transactions id assume if ur paying with card or something they’d probably just electronically take however much out of the account. When I was a kid in Canada using cash it would all be rounded up/down tho because I don’t think they have pennies
80
Anonymous#927w
And if I recall correctly the recipet from the transaction looked normal but they gave me like 2 cents less in change just cause of the whole rounding thing
19
Anonymous#2527w
Ok yeah i mainly care bc I actually do pay in cash and change about half of the time because I get paid in cash
46
Anonymous#1627w
do you think this picture for illustration purposes is an actual photo of the last penny?
81
Anonymous#2427w
soon we wont have cash itll all be digital .. yall notice how most self check outs are card only yet its only 2 registers open to take cash ? 🌚
33
Anonymous#1527w
It’s going to take a LONG time for pennies to become valuable. the amount of them in circulation is absurd.
53
Anonymous#1527w
Soon-to-be-valuable? There are literally BILLIONS of them. There are Pennie’s from the 1800s still worth less than a dollar.
60
Anonymous#127w
This is gold
347
Anonymous#1227w
Underrated comment
11
Anonymous27w
It’s a joke

Anonymous#1627w
I think even the most recent ones weren’t actually all cooper lol
75
Anonymous#2927w
How dare you say that
22
Anonymous#927w
Yea I get that, but there are soo many pennies in circulation in the US that I doubt it makes much of an impact for the foreseeable future, so I wouldn’t expect any change on your end for a while
18
Anonymous#927w
Round ups or round downs
3
Anonymous#2527w
actually, businesses (at least here in tx) are already not giving back pennies. they ask you for exact change or they’re rounding up/down to the nickel. weird stuff ngl. like why bro
27
Anonymous#3527w
Wait nooo there’s so many of those souvenir machines no way they’ll can’t get rid of those
39
Anonymous#127w
It’s also steel during one of the world wars
50
Anonymous#2927w
It was useful when it was made, now not so much because inflation
3
Anonymous#1627w
😂🤣😂🤣😂 i literally toss them into charity boxes or piggy bank at home as soon as I get them.
1
🫡
Anonymous#227w
Naw they definitely ended on a 99 lmao
249
Anonymous#2527w
Surprisingly not, the bank already stopped giving my job pennys
15
Anonymous#4027w
Oh that’s so weird, I was just guessing so I’d take your word over mine, but it’s not like there aren’t pennies just on the ground for the taking so I find it weird too
20
Anonymous#1727w
Pennies will be even luckier now that theyll be rare if u think about it
55
Anonymousrandom_thoughts_by_me27w
They have been 97.5% zinc since 1982. They are just copper clad, which is only 2.5% of their overall composition.
59
Anonymous#3827w
hope u feel better pookie
5
Anonymous#2827w
pennies as a whole won’t be valuable, the specific last few pennies minted will be valuable artifacts.
4
Anonymous#5527w
it costs 4 cents to make a 1-cent coin
6
Anonymous#327w
Gotta be 5 cents from now on bruh. Pay up those arguments 🫴
93
Anonymous#927w
i mean there’s plenty of pennies still in circulation tbf
2
Anonymous#1627w
sorry yall i take it back, reading it back now i sound idiotic, i had just come out of an exam and wasn’t fully all there 💀💀😭😭😭😭
14
Anonymous#3327w

1
Anonymous#227w
Trump literally said hed do this i thought?
6
Anonymous#2127w

Anonymous#5927w

20
Anonymous#1027w

6
Anonymous#2527w
I think they are expecting some change… mainly Pennies
2
Anonymous#1527w
LOL it happens to the best
8
Anonymousrandom_thoughts_by_me27w
Yeah they’re copper plated zinc
19
Anonymous#5327w
Pennies (in general) will never be rare. They’ve made billions per year since the 1950s or so.
3
Anonymouscrashprotocol27w
I have a horde of thousands.
9
Anonymous#227w
well i mean….
1
🦤
Anonymous#6827w
until we have to start rounding change and corporations choose to round in their favor and start to skimp us on change which starts to build up and there’s more corporate greed and rot and we slowly get poorer!
3
Anonymousdodopurpz27w
I guess you better use those pennies wisely
1
Anonymous#8727w
Because it’s essentially worthless and useless
1
Anonymous#8727w
It costs 2.7¢ on average to make one, if I’m not mistaken.

Seems like something they would pull
3
Anonymous#7227w
If Israel wasn’t meant to own Gaza then why’d they call it the West Bank?
-3
Anonymous#2927w
Everything will round up to the nearest nickel now. So something that was $2.76 will now be $2.80. So on and so forth. It’s also a big deal for small business, tip earners, people who deal with cash like vendors, etc.
