Anyway, I followed the whole thing from the beginning, less and less as time went on and Rachel received hate way before she opened her mouth just based on the fact that she was casted and wasn’t white. like this is a circumstance where the best option is partial wig and the rest of the length being CGIed in because it's just too impractical to have a wig actually be that long. i think the best case scenario is a combination of practical effects (thinking how LOTR/the hobbit movies used scaling and the actual sets being built around camera perspective) to create an illusion of length and cgi to fill in what's cost prohibitive or difficult to pull off that way

As someone that programs and makes CGI I genuinely think that that is the right way to do 100ft hair. I like practical effects and wish they were used more often but there is no reason why every effect should be practical, a CG artist working for Disney will make 100ft hair that looks better and more realistic than a wig because a wig in inherently less controllable. A wig is prone to tangling, you need supports to let it flow where you want it to, it may not catch light exactly how you want to.
