A lot of places in the US are very similar to where specifically in Alabama I’m from with homophobia; people who are lucky enough to live in very blue areas tend to forget PLENTY other places exist that aren’t nearly as fortunate homophobia-wise. Just because you specifically haven’t struggled doesn’t mean there’s not plenty of places all across the US where people are facing homophobia everyday and to say otherwise is truly one of the most ignorant, blind, and privileged claims I’ve seen
