I mean I get where u and beest boy are coming from, but denying medical treatment kills plenty of people, tho not always immediately. Are you saying that because it’s legal to do so and the decision making process is spread across more people it’s more moral to deny treatment for fiscal reasons, leading to someone’s death, than just shooting someone in the head?

I mean most people are proponents of killing nazis despite the fact that under the 3rd reich their actions were legal, because we can all understand in those situations that morality ≠ legality. When have health insurance companies killed enough people that we think about them the same way.

Im not defending the system. It’s clearly broken and people obv die because of it. But “how is ‘x’ still alive” is still implying they deserve to be killed, and I’m not going there, i dont believe anyone should. Fix the system, vote, sue them, regulate them, whatever. Celebrating someone getting murdered isn’t a good look regardless of what their industry is. Also, the nazi comparison is a little unhinged and is a big reason of why this country/world is as bad off as it is.

To clarify I don’t see health insurance CEOs to be as bad as nazis. I was using nazis because I think two relevant takeaways can come from understanding the holocaust. 1. Legality ≠ morality 2. That actions taken by a collective do not remove individual culpability I agree with everything else you other than at some point we should draw a line and take action to the extent that the other strategies you named are ineffective. Can you elaborate on why the comparison makes the world worse?

I do understand that the comparison is somewhat problematic to the degree that someone could read my message and think it’s fair to conflate their healthcare spokesperson with a concentration camp guard which is obviously unrealistic.

You both are immature. Is it so hard to have an argument about a topic without name calling or outright refusal to engage with actual argumentation? I understand the stakes are high and you both feel very strongly but neither of you seem interested in actually having a conversation. #1 you said my comparison makes the world worse but I think that your and OP’s conduct in this thread is indicative of something much more dangerous.

You calling the person mentally ill instead of asking questions to better understand their view doesn’t… Them saying the solution to this problem is shooting healthcare workers also doesn’t make sense… I can’t make it make sense for you, YOU can only try to make it make sense by asking questions. Same reason you keep talking with #1. I am very frustrated and I get the feeling, even if I know rationally it’s not the case, that if I keep beating you both over the head with the same talking points maybe you will listen. I want to engage in proper political discussion but I don’t have outlet for that irl so I come here. Maybe there is a better online platform for me to use for these purposes idk.

the thing is it’s not that i’m incapable of having a civil discussion, i just don’t think i should have to be civil when the other person clearly is just trying to make anyone angry who doesn’t agree with them. they don’t want to see things the way i see them they just want to berate anyone who isn’t “on their side.” they do not care about changing their perspective they just want to preach
