I got top surgery (double mastectomy), ask me anything! Hell, ask me anything about gender affirming care in general.

So is it like they lop off the breasts and Ken doll your chest or did they squeeze out the titty meat from a cut opening and refit the loose skin?

Yeah I got a question. Do you still have your titty meat available and what’s the asking rate? Is it per pound or per unit?

My partner is trans and will be getting top surgery in the next year. What are some things I can prepare for/do for him in the days/weeks following?

We’re all infected with the illness

From what I’ve read people who lose limbs or sections of their skin can feel phantom pain or phantom stimulus. Does that happen with breasts too? Like, is there a phantom weight or stimulus that only occurred prior to surgery? My hope is no because you wanted them gone for a reason (valid) but I am curious.

Very good question. I was unconscious so I don’t really know, but there are videos on “double incision top surgery” if you’re curious. I think they basically made a crescent shape with my boob fold and the skin that would be my pec, cut the tissue away (preserving the nipples) and then join the two skin areas together. Then they reattach the nipples superficially.

Thank you! Infinitely grateful for it this summer since I think I’d melt in a binder from the heat. ❤️

Good question! I was taken care of by family, and I think I was adequately prepared. Every patient has his own unique constraints, but there are some trends. You’ll want a wedge pillow since you can’t raise your arms more than 90°, so getting up is like a vampire, lol. Try a reacher grabber tool, wet wipes, and stool softeners for painkiller induced constipation!!

Okay I’m a little lost here. What illness are you and I infected with? Are you saying we’re being evil?

I’m my own enemy and I’m more ill than all the people I ostracize, because all in all I’m my biggest hater, my biggest opp, my only enemy is me. And I try to make it you. You as in, anyone but me.

I can definitely understand that… I don’t know you at all, but it’s not unusual to feel that way in response to self-hatred. The basis of it is shame, and the product is anger, turned inwards, outwards, or both. I hope things turn around for you, fellow human. ❤️

Hi, yes! I don’t have phantom breasts — I actually have LESS sensation than before! My nipples have no sensation now since they were completely removed and put back on. Feeling will come back eventually, and a lot in my chest has returned too.

That’s kinda cool. I have considered reduction and even removal after we found masses in my breasts and the though about phantom weight ran through my mind at that time but I chose to focus on hoping I didn’t have cancer 😅. I didn’t think about it again until I saw your post.

Thank you! I had a benign mass in my breast too but it was secondary to my desire for “cosmetic” top surgery. I hope you recover well, whatever you choose!
