For all of the other reasons, AND, some people criticize America so much because they love it, and believe it could be better.

Because it costs lots of money to leave, and people don't like leaving their family /friends even though they hate the country

“If people hate not being able to afford things, why don’t they just make more money?”

Because we don’t just want to up and leave we want our country to be better not just ditch the situation!! If a parent’s child becomes a drunk or a druggie, does the parent just abandon their kid even if they’re an adult already? No right they stick by them even if it’s hard and try to help them and guide them and help them make changes in their life. It’s the same situation. Right now this country is an absolute mess and for those of us who care about it for whatever reason it may be don’t want

Because, even if we wanted to, we’re stuck in crippling debt and can’t get to better places — biggest reason is we want to stay and make it better.

To just ditch it and leave it flailing but rather stay to help it get better. It’s like captains on boats, they’re the last ones to get off usually even if it’s sinking. We’re currently in a sinking boat so large it has many captains (all its residents) and we’re not gonna just bail on our “boat”

I hate your genocidal empire and hope it collapses, I want to see justice for the millions of people it murders and for the Global South to escape its neocolonial oppression

it really doesn’t though. if you’re looking to buy a house abroad and maintain the same living standards elsewhere as you do in the US, sure, it’s expensive. if you want to move abroad and live like most of the world does then it’s no more expensive than a singe plane ticket, if that. “it’s expensive” is just an excuse for people who claim to hate the US but couldn’t fathom living without the luxuries that it provides them.

there’s plenty of countries outside the US that aren’t in europe.

i mean obviously yes there are but most of those i'd need a new language and there would be a lot more customs i'd have a hard time fitting into

the median annual income globally is less than $3k a year. i’d bet you spend more than that in a month, maybe 2. if you really think moving out of the US is expensive then you’re the one that’s out of touch. you just don’t want to lower your standard of living and that’s what makes it seem expensive.

okay? what does that have to do with the cost of moving abroad?

the luxuries themselves are not important, it’s the cost of said luxuries. these things are expensive, even moreso in places where access is logistically limited. it’s expensive trying to move abroad and maintain your same quality of life. it’s not expensive if you accept a new standard of living, like 80% of the worlds population does.
