Yes, guns are a tool. It’s a tool specifically used and notoriously known for taking life. Why is it “guns don’t kill people” when that’s what they were designed for?

Let’s put away all knives, bats, other blunt objects you might need to do pretty much anything, pipes, fertilizer, aluminum and rusty objects because that’s bad, plastics for 3D printing… oh shit. Let’s just wrap everyone up in straight jackets and call it a day. Surely that will make everyone happy.

You really thought you sounded smart, didn’t you? No one said anything about going around collecting guns one by one. You keep saying there’s criminals with guns, so your solution is easier gun access for everyone? Because the solution to mass shootings is making sure all the kids and teachers have even more guns! Omg you’re fucking hilarious. Government confiscation scheme? Gun Control boner? You can’t imagine a world where gun usage is prohibited so you propagate the tools for violence.

You read guns are primarily used for killing and likened it to fertilizer? If you’re that intent on finding creative ways to kill, maybe you do need a straitjacket* 😭

Fertilizer can be used to make explosives, dumb dumb.

And water can drown people. I know what fertilizer can be used for, genius, but is that its primary use. Let’s turn down the murder boner and use our brains for a second.

Use your own. There’s no way to collect up all the guns in this country, and even the dumbest, craziest criminal can figure out another weapon to use pretty easily. If you don’t give a hard look at the reason why mass shootings occur, why there’s political violence, and start addressing the hard problems this country is facing, this just continues. Treat the real problems, not the symptoms.

And I’m sorry if that deflates your thirsty gun control boner but there’s zero chance criminals turn in their guns in a government confiscation scheme. 300M guns in the U.S. Best of luck with that idea.

You say address the actual problem but that’s just shying away from the literal purpose of GUNS! GUNS ARE MADE TO TAKE THE LIFE OF ANOTHER. People losing their lives IS a problem, not a symptom. Why give everyone the freedom to take a life when they’re angry? Do you want to take the lives away from people that make you angry? Are you the problem we need to deal with?

Love that you’re insulting my intelligence. You are so self righteous. You must be completely exhausting to be around. I feel sorry for your family and friends, if you have any. Your solution is to restrict guns somehow. And I guess it’s not confiscation? What is it, then? In every scenario of gun control that has ever been proposed, bad people still have guns. The difference between those scenarios and what we have right now is that law abiding citizens still have guns, which is good.

We’re not getting into this, but I’ll humor you. Let’s say poor mental health is the direct and only use of guns. You guys don’t support mental health either 😭 you would rather bully and isolate a person that expresses themselves differently, and then blame them for causing upheaval. But SURE, REGARDLESS of whatever you think the problem is, it’s obviously best to give all people more guns.

If a kid is throwing a tantrum and is holding something dangerous. Let’s tell him to calm down so we can identify the problem, I’m sure that’s the safest path to take 😀

Who is “you guys”? It’s not me. You’re arguing with an individual, not a monolith. Individual people are more nuanced than you think. Mental health Poverty Culture Those are the problems.

I’m sorry, I’m dealing with a lot of these people lately and I TRY to be patient when you say absurd things with the confidence of a fool. You’re acting like you haven’t been sarcastic and insulting my intelligence, but what do you guys know about kindness and empathy? Your “idea” isn’t arming heroes the way you think. You’re giving more bad people more guns, and more people the potential to do bad with those guns. If possession of a weapon becomes an offense (a gun is a weapon), then the only

^^peoplle who have it are those who intend to use it for its intended purpose and will be promptly apprehended. How are you going to know who’s the bad person with the gun if everyone has guns. If laws are enforced to protect everyone from harming others, then harm through that means would be significantly reduced? You keep making up for good guys for imaginary bad guys? Regardless of who’s good or who’s bad, take the guns. If you are armed, you’re armed to kill. Why continue the needless vi

Hey - in fairness, you’re right. Sorry for being a jackass at times. This is a heated time in our country and we should take a step back and look for common ground. We are too divided as a country. You may find what I say absurd. I can assure you, if you take some time to get in the head of an intelligent person who disagrees with you on this topic, you will see logic, and that you both want the same things… less innocent people dead. But we see different ways to get there.

I would prefer to continue safely and responsibly owning firearms for sport and self defense like millions of other law abiding citizens. Laws already exist, and already are enforced against murder, assault, assassination, etc. But the police can’t be everywhere. Police response time in my city is ~30 minutes. I’d be dead if I waited. If you expand police to give everyone a better response time, you get a police state. I don’t think you want that either.

I’ve got other things to do so I can’t continue this, but sorry again for being rude. I hope you have a good weekend. I appreciate how passionate you are about your beliefs but I encourage you to study the opposition viewpoint with an open mind, in detail, with data involved from sources they appreciate so that it’s a good faith evaluation. Seeing both sides of an issue allows for nuance. You may still be an absolutist afterward, that’s ok. But at least you’ll know why people feel that way.
