Not odd at all, that sounds so peaceful. The practicality of maintaining that could definitely be a challenge but it’s not unrealistic

Not odd but maybe get a livestock guardian dog for your ducks if you’re out in open fields

Also consider that if this is a retirement plan or for when you’re older in general and more prone to health issues the distance between whatever rural area you choose and the nearest hospital
