
here's how I remember it: "affect," with an "a", is an action. A for Action. So if it's a verb, it's "affect", 95% of the time. "Effect" is a noun, again 95% of the time. there's that 5% on either side but those are way more specific use cases and probably not worth getting confused about if you're just trying to get it straight.
ok to clarify, affect applies to actions and means it’s going to influence/change something. for example “the sun can affect plants in a positive way”. effect is something that already has been impacted or changed and is the outcome of the affects. “partying had a negative effect on my sleep.” did i get those right?
