What’s the easiest way to learn sign language? I’ve wanted to learn for so long, it comes in really handy for communicating at a distance and I’d really like to be more inclusive in general as someone with hearing. Any help would be appreciated!

I’ve only worked with one deaf person at a burger joint forever ago, I know a few signs but the only one I remember from him was how to sign “bacon” and you’d be surprised how little the opportunity to use it comes by 😅

For me, the easiest way to learn is surrounding myself with sign language. I’m hard of hearing and learning just in case I go deaf, but I memorize the basics first (letters, numbers, colours). Then sign things as I see them so that I don’t forget. Learn in the way you would teach a baby. When I get stuck on a word, I have an app called sign school that reminds me how to sign they have an ASL and BSL option. The signs are shown in quick videos but you can slow them down to learn more easily

Follow deaf content creators (social media, watch YouTube videos etc) to immerse yourself more, download an app or online course, check out local community colleges and one of them prob has a cheap course your could take
