Always start slow and slowly warm up speed and complexity of the patterns you play over the course of 30 minutes. I’m a guitarist not a drummer, but I know with muscle memory and dexterity, it’s all about giving those muscles enough time to warm up. getting those muscles used to the usual patterns you play slow and steady, so by the time you’re muscles are warmed up & u want to pick up speed, so is your muscle memory; and you’ll be able to do so easier

I've started going to the gym and lifting which has helped TREMENDOUSLY with stamina and speed; plus I feel I have more dominion over the kit which makes playing feel easier and more fluid

Are you a beginner? If so just practice daily (or as close to it as you can). Id recommend starting with rudiments every day, then running through some practice with a metronome (I use the drummers bible). Then play along to a song or two that you like.

doing stupid amounts of micro variations on stuff you think you’re pretty good with - will force you to make sure
