Have you noticed that there are people who claim that they are broke but still you see them drink Starbucks daily, order Uber Eats, buy makeup, etc.? I wonder if they are lying or are they just uncontrolled spenders?

as the person you are describing, we’re not (or at least some of us aren’t) lying we’re just uncontrolled spenders. honestly for me it’s like a dopamine boosts but i’ve gotten to where i only let myself buy things that i either really need or have wanted over over two weeks. or sometimes if im really itching to spend money i’ll go to a store and be like “okay $10 (or whatever depending on how much i have) is my limit and i can buy whatever useless thing i want”

Thanks for being honest. Genuine question. If you are broke where do you get the money for non-essentials assuming you would absolutely need essentials like groceries/rent? Even if it’s credit card, it’s gotta be paid sometime and has a limit ?

i’ll normally buy non essentials right after i get paid right before i pay bills (like credit cards-that i’ve stopped using!)
