
You have to be willing to open up *eventually*… and if you are, look for someone consistent, patient and understanding. Family support and EMDR+talk therapy helped me with the hard part, but those qualities in my partner are what made it work for both of us. Also, be willing to say you aren’t wanting to talk about something. I default to “I need alone time, but it’s not your fault”and “I am upset at you, but it’s hard to talk. Nothing terrible, can we talk in a few hours?”
