If you’re a danger to others, you go to a mental hospital, not rehab. I agree to all of this: if you are a minor, but substance abuse problems shouldn’t be policed over the age of 18. People should be responsible for themselves at 18 otherwise it’s very easy to set young people up (especially people at the poverty line) for ADDITIONAL trauma before full brain development. However, if the said person committed a crime, their right to negate rehab should be denied. You may disagree but-
this is coming from someone who believes the system is flawed, especially due to the different price entries for different rehabs. And I hope the person getting committed has fucking insurance bc if they don’t? Forced rehab entry should be in rare circumstances only. I’m sure that doesn’t happen, knowing the system accepts anyone even if they are just smoking marijuana at their house.
i’m a strong supporter of portugal’s drug policies, actually. they reduced drug deaths by 80%. allow me to clarify: rehab should be free, but i’m guessing you agree with me there. im a socialist lol i want the system to focus on support rather than punishment. (which has been proven time and time again to be much more effective) in our current system my stance is different because our system is fucked up.
Yeah once you start putting physical “harm” in the mix, that’s when rights are off the table bc technically your say starts eroding. Upsetting, the amount of people who get physical with their families who never end up in rehab…But some ppl just throw you under the bus tho. Anyhow, I like, had in mind this guy I know whose mom put him in a Mexican mental hospital bc he was smoking marijuana.
