Why is there so much overlap in the most wealthy states - MA, NJ, MD, NH, and CA - being the most democratic? Democrats usually want social services and government but wealthy people are known to be self serving and will not benefit from SNAP or RAFT (MA)

States with large urban centers have lots of democratic voters in those areas and also lots of economic activity for the same reason. They're related concepts but not in the way you mean

Because democratic states realize if you want the members of your society to be productive, they need access to social services. They need access to government programs, resources, healthcare, fair wages and equitable access to the things I mentioned make for happy people and better members of society.

It feels like the interests are conflicting. I know that those states also have a high emphasis on education and that effects polotics but I feel like this wealth thing is staring us in the face and I don’t have an explanation for it

Also I know NH is a swing state, it’s an outlier my bad. No need to correct me in the comments. Thank you and I hope you have a nice day <3
