preventing them is kind of not up to you, they form from gaining or losing weight or from a connective tissue disorder and whatever you do to prevent them is futile. A dermatologist is the best option to fade them, they can do light therapy and injections. For at home treatment you can do vitamin E oil and scar tape. 1 is right, as much as your insecurity tells you otherwise.
moisturizing that area will help. i have a lot of stretch marks, and because i'm really pale the new ones look red/purple ish. mine fade into a skin tone color over time but keeping your skin hydrated will boost your skin elasticity and prevent new ones from forming. don't feel bad about them at all, everyone has stretch marks!
Hydration can stop new ones if you don’t have skin conditions. I’m currently in the process of trying to reduce the appearance of indented old ones and it generally requires appointments for laser or deep micro needling to get rid of indents. Things like retinol can remove pigmentation on their own over time but don’t help much with dents
I am pretty sure I have some sort of skin condition because of how easily I got them everywhere during puberty. The only ones that bother me are the ones on my knees because almost everyone will have them on upper thighs, butt, and boobs to some degree. The weird thing is I never really gained that much weight or got much taller when they started appearing(just like 15 pounds over 6 months) so especially with my knees I don’t know why they are so many
