I graduated college a couple months ago in kinesiology, and straight out I was hired to be a general manager. It is a 55,000 starting salary. It’s an insane workload and the owner is pretty toxic, but it is really good experience. Should I stay?

So you're mad over how much actual work a job is? So managers aren't supposed to do any work? Do you think your job is going to be any easier making 100,000?

😂 some of yall are very accusatory and condescending. To reply to #1: I am doing ≈7 AM-8 PM Monday-Friday and ≈8AM-4PM Saturday & Sunday Here is a General list without too many details of what the expectation is: Employee management, scheduling, operations, safety audits, social media marketing, business to business marketing and relations, customer satisfaction, leads management, email blasts, hiring, and role organization.

The way the economy and job market is, some money is better than no money. Quit whining, do your job and be thankful. Tons of people are having a hard time getting a job EVEN with experience.

All things considered yes I do know that I am not completely efficient yet because I’m still new to it, my hours actually have decreased a bit recently because I was staying until about 8 PM on the weekends as well. But it’s still quite a hefty workload.

Four weeks ago I would’ve killed for that list. I think the biggest problem is that no matter how much I try and ask for it I am never given a comprehensive list of what is expected of me. It’s kind of like my owner just thinks of some random idea on the fly and if I’m not doing it, they are upset. Or they ask if such and such has been done yet, but never mentioned it before that moment

Wait you’re doing literally anything besides kinesiology though??? Do you mind doing all these other things and not what you studied? But besides that, normally I’d say that seems like too many hours for that pay, but we have to factor in that you don’t have any previous experience. Then there’s that you don’t have defined tasks buuut I think that may be part of a managerial role, but the attitude of your boss is important too.

It is a bit unfortunate that I don’t get to use what I studied, but I knew that coming into the job.
