that makes sense. a lot of the time it seems the only ones who care enough to point it out have no ties at all to that community. perhaps it means those it does pertain to have heard it so many times they just tune it out now, maybe that's not better. it can be irritating to have to be so politically correct all the time, especially since we are continually adding more words to the do not say list. but it'll all smooth over soon, we're just in a transitional era.
maybe in a 100 years' time they'll look back on me casually saying eskimo as no better than those in the 1900's doing black face. i'm glad we as a society evolved from doing that, i can't imagine how humiliating that was for black people of that time, and in the same way, someday we'll be glad we're consciously avoiding using eskimo as a term
