DHT a byproduct of testosterone binds to hair follicles and reduces the diameter over time in the genetically prone. This can be countered with finasteride or dutasteride to reduce DHT levels as a form of HRT treatment to slow down and even stop AGA. Men with AGA likely aren’t treated as well as those that don’t have it do to the salience of looks in today’s society, especially being pushed by social media. Because of the hair loss the man likely feels out of control and projects insecurities

W endocrinology. Also noting that minoxidil works in a different way, and it increases blood flow to the hair which causes it to spend more time in the growth phase.
