Ask Anything on Yik Yak | Hopefully not a stupid question but does tipping change when going to like a quick serve place like a coffee shop, subway, chipotle etc or should it still be at least 20% like a restaurant? I usually do 10-15% at those places but idk if that’s rude?

For me it depends on their base pay more than the type of restaurant. If they make 2.30 an hour plus tips I go for 20% (unless the service was shit). If they’re at Starbucks making $18 which is more than me, nah fam. You’re not getting a tip, sorry

I think it really just comes down to how much you appreciate the service. It doesn’t matter what kind of establishment it is or if it’s owned by a Rich mf. If you genuinely feel the staff is taking care of you and you appreciate their service, then you tip. And I’d tip good at that, 20% at a few places I love like my favorite coffee shop. They show kindness and care to me, so I show kindness and care to them

No tip. Not mandatory unless you feel they did something extra. If they are serving you, then yes.
