1919 Dodge vs Ford Motor Co Supreme Court case, a decision that Dodge brothers won that has since fucked America, basically that savings are passed onto shareholders, not consumers. Ford wanted to discount their cars, Dodge brothers with 10% shares in ford wanted more money, Dodge brothers won and used that money to build their own company

Tbf that case is widely misunderstood and used as cover fire for businesses due to one quote in it. In reality Dodge v. Ford didn’t make profit maximization an absolute legal duty, it mostly said shareholders can’t be ignored entirely but businesses can decide how to get there.
