Why would people stay in a frat/sorority after being traumatized by hazing? It makes zero sense!

that's the whole point though, that's how it works psychologically. you get fucked over, then you think it was worth it because you went through something horrible. if you didn't feel like it was worth it, you'd have huge cognitive dissonance.

Idk, maybe I'm just built different. When something bad happens I don't ever think it was worth it, I just think something was wrong with me to make them hurt me (internalize it) and then leave.

fwiw I'm totally with you but hazing/initiation rituals have had a lot of study done and people who were hazed generally report feeling more connected to the group afterwards. it's absolutely horrible stuff, don't get me wrong, but it's common because it really does work on people.
