Yes, because as the daughter of a father that’s a momma’s boy and always put them (his parents and siblings) over my mom and I and our “home,” I essentially want the opposite in my future family and I want to break that cycle. There’s a reason this is even in the bible for those that are religious (that a man should leave his parents and become one with his wife, paraphrasing). This doesn’t mean we should abandon them or never help them, but we shouldn’t take from our new family for our family
