Not as much as you may think. His big appeal was solving real world issues and economic prosperity. Given the state of the economy, he has lost a lot of favor with people I know. Most conservatives want an “America first” policy, where we focus on helping ourselves and fixing our own problems. Many conservatives find it harder and harder to justify the actions of war conducted by the US in other countries. However, Trump has delivered on decreasing crime and a few other things, so it’s mixed.
I think it’s also important to remember that Trump, while disruption and trifling, has brought a lot of attention to the corruption and incompetence of our government. While I think his administration genuinely wants to do good for the people, he has a lot to prove. Moreover, many conservatives voted for Trump because the alternative was a man with dementia. The lesser of two turds.
It’s all good. From my perspective, Trump exposed and went after corruption and foul play regarding government spending. Name another president that would try something like DOGE? The government had been abusing its ability to spend our tax dollars. There are now more limits to this spending and many irresponsible things are defunded. It’s cool if we see things differently. Some people just have different ways of seeing things.
