If a 17 year old can join the military but they can’t freely have sex, drink, smoke, or gamble on the basis of them being “children,” doesn’t that mean that we technically allow child soldiers to serve in the military?
They’re only allowed to join with parent signing off

yes, the army is happy to groom children to do their bidding

Yes. The military counts on underdeveloped frontal lobes for the majority of recruits. Very few rational fully grown adults would sign up for that

We do not a 17 year old can enlist as long as they turn 18 before the end of basic training.

That doesn’t answer the question.

According to the federal government, 18-20 year olds are too young to possess handguns and machine guns. What justification does the federal government have for putting handguns and machine guns into the hands of those they themselves deem to young to have them?

They are not allowed to legally buy a handgun, they can legally possess and operate them.

Very few fully grown adults would actually qualify to join anyways honestly

No one who isn’t old enough to buy their own handgun from an FFL dealer is old enough to go to war, period.

I can see your point and understand it, but that’s just how our country works currently
