Block adult websites on your phone (have a trusted person set a passcode so you can’t change it helps more). Don’t take your phone into the bathroom with you at all if that’s typically a place you engage in it. Find hobbies you actually like to do to take up your time and help give you the dopamine boost you’re trying to chase after with masturbation. Stop watching other media that’s overly sexual and tends to make you want to (esp if you’re a big anime watcher…loooot of fan service)
Two strays thatve helped curb it somewhat for me: 1. Exercise - lifting/running releases a high amount of endorphins that somewhat supplants the dopamine you would be getting from nutting. also, ur usually too exhausted to beat after. also, you’ve given your mind something else to focus on. 2. I’ve started challenging myself to only beat my meat when I’m actually horny. This has encouraged me to pause and reflect if I’m doing it bc I’m genuinely aroused or if it’s just out of stress/impulse
#1 is extremely effective for me. #2 less so, but did reveal some meaningful insights for me that I realized like 90% of the time was never actually bc I’m horny, just because I need a stress relief. This doesn’t necessarily have an immediate effect in short term results, but does help reshape your relationship with masturbating in the long term. And tbh, I feel like mental growth is the most important for sustainable recovery of any addiction.
#3 give myself choices like either I jack off or get to eat that dessert I really like or buy that CD I want. I’m not a professional and this probably has its own fucked up psychological implications, but experientially, I find it moderately effective. I’m getting a tangible reward for making incremental progress, so it feels more worth it despite really wanting to jack off
