I just got these MacBooks from someone who no longer uses them and it’s doing this when powered on. It doesn’t power up like it should. It shows a blinking file folder and gives a support link. What do I do?

It’s a common issue with older MacBooks. Mine still does it occasionally. Have you tried factory resetting them? What’s the battery health on them? My temporary fix is going easy on the RAM by: using <50% HD storage, minimize duplicate apps (e.g. PDFs), keeping fewer browser tabs open, simple wallpaper

OP I'm not trying to be a bitch but did you go to the website? Apple has a step by step list of things to try with detailed walkthroughs for every option

then contact apple or something. no one on YY has the info or the access to the system that would be needed to help you here
