There’s some apps I think that are meant to help find DMs nearby who want to run games. I haven’t checked them out much so you’d have to do some more research. Aside from that, joining a strategy games/tabletop games club at your school (if you go to school) is the fastest way to find a campaign. Many DMs are very open and welcoming to new players, so I wouldn’t worry about that part too much :)

pirate the books and be the DM yourself! its what i did, lol. you can run a premade campaign or oneshot pretty easily to ease yourself into DMing. I’d say just make sure everything your using is from the same edition, i’d recommend just 5e rather than the current 5.5e, since the books are more easily accessible online!

You really don’t need much education to play DnD, except to create your character and fill out your sheet. The majority of DMs I’ve played with are happy to help you fill out your sheet, and if they aren’t, there are a multitude of resources designed to help you understand, or resources that will make it simpler/do it for you like DnD beyond. But for the most part, DnD is just using your imagination. Lowkey the hardest part of DnD is scheduling time to play when everyone’s available 😭

As a last resort, Baldur’s Gate 3 might be the closest you could get to playing a campaign without other people. It is a bit pricey but if you like DnD, it’s worth it. Or you can also watch/listen to DnD podcasts. My personal favorite is Just Roll With It, but there are many more good ones out there.
