I’m assuming this is about race? I’d say it’s mostly about your reasoning for the preference. Is it based on what you know is true or a stereotype/fantasy? Preference: I like Asian women because they tend to have physical features I find most attractive Fetish: I like Asian women because they’re intelligent and submissive

I wasn’t thinking specifically about race, though it can apply here. I was thinking more generally about liking people based on appearance/lifestyle characteristics, and where the line crosses into fetishizing or objectifying them.

It becomes fetishizing when you start projecting your fantasies about how that person is supposed to behave because they look a certain way. As soon as you start stereotyping/assuming you have just dehumanized a person into a sexual experience.
