Gym rats: are you judging me when I struggle to lift 5 pounds on some exercises as a girl?

Nope. Lift what you can lift, do what you can do. There are guys out there who could bench three of me stacked on top of each other. Does that make me feel bad? No.

Good to know. I have an eating disorder as well which automatically makes me weaker anyway. But I also just started my gym journey so I just feel out of place and weak and I don’t love that feeling

Then most gym goers will actually be happy to see you. There are assholes in every part of life but most gym people are glad to see someone who’s clearly struggling taking their health seriously. You will probably find support from people there if you tell them what you’re going through, or just keep it to yourself and be nice. You’ll be fine, just wipe down your equipment when you’re done and no normal person will have a problem. Caveat, there are total assholes in the gym sometimes.

Don’t let them taint your perception of the gym entirely, if you don’t like the atmosphere you can find a different gym or try a different workout time.

Also I made a typo. I meant that gym people are happy to see someone taking their health seriously when they have struggled in the past.
