Not slut shaming but how are some ppl engaging in hookup culture not scared of STDs? Like does it ever cross your mind that someone may be lying about their health status just to get their rocks off😭

Get tested regularly and use protection. Never had an issue and I’m an old fart compared to most people on this app

One of the reasons I will never understand hookups/hookup culture. Not the only reason mind you, but that just seems really dangerous.

they get the stds and regret it later, consequences to actions usually opens eyes

It does. Its why i always appreciate seeing their test results, show mine, and try to get tested regularly, the latter being the most important to me. Thank you for reminding me bc I *really* need to get a full panel lol long overdue.

Regular testing and barrier protection (condoms, etc) unless you were both very recently tested/can show proof. Also HPV and Hep B vaccines. There’s also PrEP to prevent HIV for individuals who are at higher risk for exposure. It is possible to have a lot of sex with a lot of people and still keep risks relatively low; you just have to be diligent :) (one example is that not a single legal NV sex worker has tested positive for HIV since the 1980s when strict protocols were introduced!)

Sure, liars exist and nothing's 100% foolproof (herpes/HPV spread skin-to-skin), but the combo drops odds way down for the smart crowd. Fear's valid, but informed risk management > total abstinence for a lot of folks. Stay tested, wrap it, and communicate. 💯

stds are either curable and the ones that aren’t are not a big deal so people just don’t really worry tbh. not that’s it’s good. last time i got an std test lab corp charged me a thousand dollars so i was like ohhh i guess that’s why people aren’t getting tested. it’s ridiculous. and i only found out the price afterwards

Not gay so not worried about AIDS. My only fear is pregnancy. I use spermicide condoms and pull out before orgasm regardless

So much more out there than HIV/AIDs, genital warts don’t just go away and can sometimes cause cancer and while there are vaccines for some types - more than 50% of sexually active adults still have some form of HPV

Technically all sex is dangerous, the person could always cheat or do drugs or whatever else. And at the end of the day, everything is at least a little dangerous. As long as you’re risk aware and do your best to reduce risk, yanno? But totally valid if it’s too much risk for you personally!!

Also you can still get stds when pulling out. Can still get pregnant when pulling out. And you can still get AIDs from vaginal or oral sex.

Honestly i’ve had sex with at least 10 people (not much whatsoever, but most were hookups) and I haven’t gotten an std yet. I’m defo not immune, but like. Yeah. And most are very treatable/curable. Despite testing negative for chlamydia i was still at risk of having it so they put me on antibiotics that would’ve killed it. Test results came back as nothing but yanno, better safe than sorry.
