Do you care about Palestine? Why or why not?

No. My mom has cancer and I spend all my time thinking about her

I care in the sense I feel bad for the innocent people caught in the crossfire. But I fundamentally believe the IDF is fighting a just war. I want the war to end but I hold that Hamas has the responsibility to end it. TLDR: I care because innocent people are suffering, but this is not the greatest or most flagrant example of human suffering in the world right now so I’m not super focused on it.

I do not care, largely because I’m uninformed and caring about something I don’t know anything about just makes me naive.

Yes and no, I think what’s happening is a tragedy but at the end of the day hamas is actively egging on Israel and keeping aid from their own civilians in order to garner more public support and sympathy and if they weren’t fighting Israel Palestine would be fighting against itself in civil war

Wow I’m actually impressed with how self aware this is! Most people in my life are not capable of being this honest, because it requires a high level of reflection 🫡 🏆 Just out of my own curiosity: hypothetically, if you got informed (with credible information) do you think you would care? Or would you still not care that much because it’s happening elsewhere?

Israel has all the power over there though. We fund their military with our taxes. They have universal healthcare & free college paid for by USA taxpayers. Our companies like Raytheon donate weapons of war to their cause. They even have a lobbying company called AIPAC that pays our lawmakers to pass legislation for Israel benefit. 37 us states have laws preventing us from boycotting Israel.

My 💗 is with your mom & your family 💔 I just wish more people were aware that every problem in your real life is amplified by Israel situation. example: Your tax dollars pay for their universal healthcare. But republicans who control house, senate & Congress just voted to triple your healthcare premiums & prescriptions.

Ooooo that’s a good question. While I think me not knowing about it is directly related to it not directly affecting me, I’m sure someone informed could point out 20 ways it affects me indirectly, if I was to be informed on the topic that would inherently remove that barrier for me if that makes sense. Then it would fall to thinks like bias and apathy. Where again I’m not certain if I would care or not. But at that point I do not believe it would be dependent on whether it’s here or there.

All of that is close enough to true to require more serious research to understand why it’s wrong, fortunately I have done that ground work so here we go. “Israel has the power”. On an excel spreadsheet sure, but that’s the thing about asymmetrical warfare, a smaller weaker force can actually cause serious issues for a larger more advanced force if they make good use of force multipliers like say, millions of human shields and a tunnel network larger than the Lyndon underground.

“They have universal healthcare and free college”. And a tiny population. And saying that “the US pays for it” is misleading, we engage in favorable trade sure, but we always get our money’s worth out of them.

“Our companies like Raytheon donate weapons.” No TF they don’t. The US government gives them loans that they are obligated to use to purchase US weapons, but that’s a financing program, not a gift. We actually give (as in assets they actually don’t have to pay for) more things to the surrounding Middle East countries than we “give” to Israel.

“They have a lobbying company called AIPAC”. That’s an antisemitic phantasm. AIPAC is founded, financed and run by American citizens who personally support Israel. Most of them are religious American Jews who formed a PAC to fund things they believe in. It’s not unique or even uncommon in US politics. I’m not calling you an antisemite, but you should consider why you think AIPAC is unique because it’s very much not.

“37 states have laws that prevent people from boycotting Israel.” No they don’t, some states have laws that prevent the states agencies from doing business with entities that boycott Israel. But if you want to boycott Israel they won’t and can’t stop you. Just like I won’t buy from a company that boycotts Israel, you don’t have to buy from a company that supports Israel.

If we didn’t fund their defense systems they would be being hit non stop with missles from hamas who takes the aid given to them by Israel and sells it for weapons if I was Israel I’d stop giving them aid

You are not informed enough, the information I provided is credible & well documented. Also, they can and will punish USA ppl from boycotting. It’s in numerous laws and in several of the executive orders that Trump passed this week alone. Everything I stated in documented in official legislature. What primary sources are you getting your opinions from?
