I know this is kind of depressing for this community but I’m looking for advice from anyone that has gone through this and how to cope with this because I’ve never had to deal with the loss of someone this close to me before let alone have to decide when

i know this is hard to hear but she is definitely in pain and doesn’t want to show you because she loves you. it’s a big step but she would be much happier if you made that hard decision. nothing can replace those memories but sometimes picking up a new responsibility makes it easier to cope. a club, new hobby, maybe even a fish or a new cat. you’re not alone.

Thank you I definitely needed to hear this. I know 100% that I have to euthanize her but it still makes me feel so guilty. And I really appreciate your advice

Thank you for your story but she would have a very poor quality of life if I let her live like this much longer. She has to breathe solely through her mouth which isn’t good for cats and no longer enjoy many of the activities and foods she used to love. I can’t keep seeing her decline like this and struggle to walk, eat, etc.

try not to feel guilty just try to imagine you’re giving her proper medical care. she’s loved and being treated in the best possible way. you’re showing her the most mercy you can by being there to help get rid of her pain. this is a very big act of love not an act of malice.
