I went to Krispy Kreme and ordered a dozen assorted donut. The employee asked what donuts and I just said assorted and he asked again. So I just started naming a couple and he started saying “we only have two of those, we don’t have any of those, etc”.

I just told him to just put whatever since it assorted and he asked again what donuts. At that point I was a bit irritated because he was coming across as a little rude. I’m not crazy for thinking it was weird he kept asking me what donuts for the assorted box of donuts? This is a real non-issue. Just wanted to see what someone else thought.

While I understand where the worker was coming from (direct instructions are better because you’re less likely to mess up and disappoint, and an assortment isn’t exactly direct) it’s also kinda weird that they didn’t just give you a bunch of random ones like you asked. Then again they’re definitely working for minimum wage, I don’t blame them for not wanting to deal with that request

I mean, when I go to a donut shop I am choosing those donuts exactlyyyy. I would never buy a box of just random donuts? It just says "assorted" cause it's a different price than all 12 glazed.

But the expectation is that the customer chooses the assortment. You could get 12 cream filled. It would still be assorted.
