Do I have a right to dislike that every so often my dad says I’m looking healthy in kind of a weird way? It’s always brought up at random, like at dinner and I never know what spurs him to say it or if there’s implications behind it.

i need more context: respectfully, what’s your relationship with your dad like? would it bother you if your mom or a close friend said the same? have you gone through any period where you were definitely looking “unhealthy” (maybe a bout of depression so your hygiene and self care took a hit, maybe an eating disorder when you were younger, etc) at the moment, i’d say you’re overreacting and your dad is trying to show his love in ways he feels comfortable

And I know some might say “well that’s your dad appreciate a compliment” but if someone said that to you would you consider that flattering?

Im sorry but are you implying that your dad might be sexually attracted to you?

I think they mean in a more back-handed way? Hopefully?

No, I don’t think that’s why he says it. I think more just to annoy me but also don’t know if I’m overreacting

as someone who’s been overweight, underweight, and has found a comfortable medium; yes, i would.
