i felt this same way. planned nothing. signed a lease in my college town (student housing so VERY cheap) and left a month later.

honestly don’t feel pressured to move out. if you’re happy and things are going ok, then stay a bit and save up! my moms friend literally had to move back into her parents bc her finances are bad. better to stay at your parents while you’re younger and get money than have to move back when you’re older. if you wanna move out then definitely look into roommates, but if you want to live alone be ready to make sacrifices. possibly no dishwasher or central air

I would recommend picking a place that you can afford with ease. Would also recommend that you start/continue a savings account and maintain two months rent worth of saving at minimum. Life always happens! Layoffs, auto repairs, medical stuff, etc.

mines a 3 bed apt. it’s a very nice place, it’s like 540 a month but i use the flex app to split my rent so i pay half on the first and half on the 15th

Where do you go if you don't mind answering? I'm about to transfer schools and affordable housing is one of the top factors 😭

the only bill we pay other than rent is electric which for me is never over 30. ac, heat, wifi, laundry in units, pet friendly. i LOVE it

yesss i was gonna extend on my comment and say that sometimes the fancy places can actually be cheaper than the private landlord. i have private landlord and we paid $177 (split by 2 but still) for electric and gas last month. figured out it cost us $93 just to HAVE electricity and gas per month. my friends even has a free lounge with coffee, so she never has to buy coffee. once a month they provide dinner. it’s crazy and clearly I didn’t think of that when seeing the stark price difference
