eugenics is when someone else decides you shouldn’t pass on your genes and kills you, or forcibly sterilizes you. or on the flip side someone else decides you must pass on your genes and forces you to get pregnant

No it’s just nongenicts. Eugenics would be if you would only have kids with certain races/phenotypes. Not having kids isn’t eugenics, at least not in the traditional sense.

no especially if you’re a carrier for illness its totally valid to not want future children to suffer

Wanting kids for the sole purpose of passing on your genes would be scientific eugenics. Trying to create a family so there’s more good people in the world, so that you have people you love unconditionally, that love you unconditionally, allegedly creates a new phase of neurogenesis in your brain and gets you thinking beyond yourself.

I think it’s really thoughtful you see your life experiences and know that any children you have will likely suffer the same way if they inherited those same life changing genes. There’s plenty of children in need of homes who would really benefit from your perspective and understanding if they are struggling with something similar.

that’s one of the reasons i don’t want kids. mental illness runs very strong in my family’s genetics and i just do not want to deal with a kid that has all the same issues as me

More information is needed to make that determination particularly related to your thoughts

No. My bf and I both have some serious health issues and we decided to not have kids with each other in the future. We’ll adopt or foster if we feel the itch to have kids (currently not interested) but we’re too screwed up health wise to want to make someone else ever deal with what we have to.

The definition is trying to increase the rate of desirable traits in the human race. So if you have genes you consider undesirable compared to the average person, then yes.
