Outside of a legal context, I feel like the definition of sobriety is up to the individual. Like if alcohol is destructive to someone’s life but weed isn’t for them, I would taken any issue with them saying they’re sober if they just stopped alcohol.

Destructive to their mental state, people around them, etc. Of course one could argue that all drugs are destructive to your physical health on some level
