I can feel the depression coming back but I don’t want to go on meds again. Any other solutions?

a few basic hacks depending on how open minded you are: 10mins of sunlight when you wake up, going outside or leaving your house to do anything once a day every day, even if it’s just sitting on your porch (this will help with getting sunlight), developing a routine (just the basic stuff so that when things get bad you can at least fall back on these), therapy, journaling (specifically naming your emotions and why you feel them), grounding exercises like eft tapping, box breathing,

objects to carry that hold emotional value, sensory stimulation, fact checking etc., finding something that gives you purpose/finding a hobby or something that distracts you when things get bad, allowing yourself free time before and after you have to do something you don’t want to do, something extremely small you can do every day that makes you feel accomplished, emotion-congruent music, and above all, give yourself grace. create a pressure free environment for yourself to the best of your

ability and just remember that doing nothing is still something and still a win. even if you have to get back on medication, it’s a temporary fix. at the end of the day, being on medication for a small part of your life (or big) is better than not being here at all. just settle into the fact that time is constantly moving, and this means that it’s physically impossible for you to feel the same way all the time. love you <3 you’ll get through this
